Tracy Morgan - No Disrespect

Starring for seven seasons on NBC’s Emmy and Golden Globe Award-winning “30 Rock,” Tracy Morgan appeared opposite Tina Fey and Alec Baldwin as “Tracy Jordan,” the unpredictable star of Lemon’s (Fey) hit variety show, “TGS with Tracy Jordan.” In 2009 Morgan received his first Emmy Nomination for this role, in the Supporting Actor category; he has in six past years also been nominated for a Supporting Actor NAACP Image Award. The “30 Rock” cast has also won the Screen Actors Guild Award for “Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series.” The beloved series came to an end in January 2013.

Tracy Morgan

While on a standup comedy tour in 2014, Morgan was critically injured in a serious car accident that prevented the comedian from continuing to work and tour. After months of rehabilitation, Tracy returned in an exclusive interview with TODAY Show’s Matt Lauer where he expressed his grief for the incident as well as his goals to come back to the entertainment world. The FXX Studios untitled comedy series created by RCG productions, toplined by Morgan, remains on hold. In June 2015, Tracy was selected to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the 2016 class. Starting September the same year, Morgan began filming his next role in the upcoming comedy, FIST FIGHT, staring Ice Cube and Charlie Day.

In April 2014, Tracy released a standup special for Comedy Central, titled Tracy Morgan: Bona Fide, which brought Comedy Central one of its largest viewership for a standup special in 2014. Even adding host to his line of credits, Morgan served as the 2013 Billboard Music Awards host, where he kept the laughs going on ABC’s LIVE broadcast in May.
With comedy always as his foundation, Morgan has begun tackling dramas and independent films. In 2010, he starred alongside Al Pacino and Channing Tatum in the crime-thriller THE SON OF NO ONE which received Sundance Film Festival honors. In August 2012, WHY STOP NOW bowed, which was also an official selection at Sundance. The film is centered on a piano prodigy (Jesse Eisenberg) who on the day of a big audition winds up on a drug-fueled odyssey with his addled mother (Melissa Leo) and her drug dealer, Sprinkles, played by Morgan.

Morgan has also had the opportunity to be a part of some of the most successful animated films in recent years. In 2009, he made his animation debut lending his voice for Jerry Bruckheimer’s G-FORCE, a combination live-action/CG film. The film opened number one in US box offices and was celebrated by audiences worldwide. In 2013, he starred as the bulldog, Luiz, in the colorful and lively film RIO and again in April 2014 when he reprised his role in RIO 2. Morgan’s voice can also be heard in the Oscar-nominated film, BOXTROLLS, as one of the film’s antagonist, Mr. Gristle.

Another milestone for Morgan was reached in 2009 with the release of his first book, a compilation of studied anecdotes and some of the more serious moments that shaped him and his career entitled I Am The New Black. He also headlined the famed “New York Comedy Festival” which featured acclaimed comedians including Bill Maher, Andy Samberg, and Patton Oswalt, among others. Lastly, Morgan rounded out his list of great comedic achievements with his first HBO Special, “Black & Blue.”

Continuously touring the country doing what he loves the most, stand-up comedy, Morgan has headlined across the country and abroad on various tours and festivals. He was first introduced to television audiences in his role as “Hustleman” on the hit comedy series “Martin.” He went on to join “Saturday Night Live” in 1996 where he appeared for seven seasons and created such memorable characters as “Astronaut Jones” and “Brian Fellows.” After leaving SNL, Morgan went on to star in his own comedy series “The Tracy Morgan Show” and voiced “Spoonie Luv” on Comedy Central’s “Crank Yankers.” Additional film credits include: COP OUT, the remake of the British film DEATH AT A FUNERAL, Dimension Films’ SUPERHERO MOVIE, FIRST SUNDAY opposite Ice Cube and Katt Williams, THE LONGEST YARD opposite Adam Sandler, the Wayan’s brothers LITTLE MAN, JAY AND SILENT BOB STRIKE BACK AND HEAD OF STATE.
